Is this a good guitar?
I am still a beginner, however I don’t want a “cheap” student acoustic. I have been looking at an Art& Lutherie Folk. http://www.artandlutherieguitars.com/folkspruceburg.html I like the folk because it feels a little more comfortable than a dreadnaught. Is there any versitility with a folk guitar as far as style sounds go? Is the A & L a decent guitar? Also should I get the sprucetop or cedar? Since I’m just starting Im not sure exactly which style I will be playing, so a good range in sound would be good. Any reviews or suggestions are much appreciated thanks!

Yes, it’s a fine guitar. A&L guitars are manufactured by LaSiDo of Canada which claims to be the largest manufacturer in North America. They also make Seagull, Godin, Norman, and several other brands.
A cedar top is an acquired taste; it’s much warmer than spruce and as a result you lose some of the treble clarity. Additionally, cedar is much softer than spruce and tends to dent and ding easily. I would urge you to try it before you buy it.
